Welcome to Humboldt State University's social network for parents and families.

The HSU Parents & Family Cookbook is now online!

We put a call out to parents and family like you to help provide some recipes for students making their own Thanksgiving dinners and you really came through.

Share these recipes with your student to help them perk up their first Thanksgiving away from home, or just diversify their weekly food-routine. After all, a student can’t survive on pizza alone.

Check it out on my Student Recipes blog. You can post additional recipes there or send me your recipes directly, at dp93@humboldt.edu.

"Sometimes as students get older and take advanced classes, they need a car to go on field trips and for travel to research locations. Busses in the area are not really convenient for this. Our daughter had to to to the Marine Lab in Trinidad 2 or 3…"

Question of Utilities for those who live off campus

Well as most of you know the students who live off campus rent from June 1 to May 31.  I have a question my daughter landlord wants the girls to turn the utilities on June 1, 2012, but the girls will not be there during the summer.  What are your thoughts.

We made it through Freshman Year...

We made it through our first year of Humboldt State.  She is finished with finals, renting a storage unit with some folks, signing her lease with yes a one parent co-signer. On Sat early morning driving down home to spend the summer working at Knotts.  Its been a challenging empty nest year to say the least.  Worst part is when she got very very ill and went to the health center after her eyes bugged out.  She was just told to rest.   I finally convinced her our health insurance covers…

Son looking for roommates.

My son Sam is looking for roommates to share a beautiful 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house a mile from the HSU campus in a nice modern neighborhood. Includes an open concept kitchen, dining, and living room, garage, and yard. The one year lease renews June 1. His cell # is 530/559-1361.

OMG my daughter wants to live off campus! now what?

I have struggled with how to post this....some embarrassment because I haven't been able talk with my daughter about what her plans are (vague at best), and my trying to stay out of her "growth" and learning how the world works. She is a freshman this year living in Redwood...

I did take the leap and push her to apply for on campus housing as a back up plan, of course this all happened on the day it was due....I found the housing time line on accident when  I was trying to see what the…
